Precious one,
So small,
So sweet
Dancing in
on angel feet
Straight from Heaven's
brightest star
What a miracle
you are!

Life is good with the Hinton's. We are moving children and ourselves. Matt and Kristi moved into our home in Hurricane, we are moving out to the ranch, Dustin & Kami are moving somewhere in So. Utah. Crazy life, but all is good. Harold and I were called to be Ordinance Workers at the Temple. What a wonderful experience we are having there. Perfect for returned missionaries. We are also going to the temple to do my Dad's work on July 30. What a blessing the gospel is in our lives.

I John 5:2 - May 9, 2010
"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments."
We have had great adventure with our precious family in the two months we have been home from our mission. We are blessed beyond measure to have precious children and grandchildren who love us and one another. Our joy is full. How blessed we are.

We are really home now and enjoying our children and grandchildren. Life is good. We miss the mission field and the spirit we felt there. We are looking forward to the next phase of our lives.

We will be leaving our mission to go back home on February 25. The experience has been one of the crowning moments in our lives. Just as Alma glories in the Lord's work, we feel the same. Alma 29:9 & 13.
I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be and instrument in the hands of God, to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy. That same God hath called me by a Holy Calling, to preach the word unto this people, and hath given me much success, in the which my joy is full.

Christmas in the Mission Field
December 27, 2009
Our last Christmas in the mission field! What a joyous experience this has been for us. We have made many priceless friendships and memories. Above all we have become closer to the scriptures and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. How blessed we are. May we all try harder this new year to draw closer to our Savior through prayer and the scriptures.
Isaiah 9:6 - "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The might God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Prayer and Thanksgiving
D&C 46: 7-8
"But ye are commanded in all things to ask of God, who giveth liberally; and that which the Spirit testifies unto you even so I would that ye should do in all holiness of heart, walking uprightly before me, considering the end of your salvation, doing all things with prayer and Thanksgiving, that ye may not be seduced by evil spirits, or doctrines of devils, or the commandments of men; for some are of men and others of devils.
8. Wherefore, beware lest ye are deceived; seek ye earnestly the best gifts, always remembering for what they are given."

Conference was great today. I felt like the theme of it was to Love God, follow his commandments, serve others, and life will go easier for all of us. Why is that so hard for us to do?
Pres. Monson said, "As we heed His words and live the commandments, and as we strive to do His will, we will be blessed, and do good continually." "And it came to pass that I Nephi, said unto my father; I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which He commandeth them. We are so thankful for these teachings.

We went to Bismark, ND, for a senior couple conference. We were able to attend the temple, which we really enjoyed, then we had some spiritual training and good food. It was fun meeting with other couples we rarely see. There are only three senior couples in Rapid City. We also saw a lot of beautiful scenery on our way home.
Here is the thought for the month: 3 Nephi 18:19-21
"Therefore ye must always pray unto the Father in my name;
And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.
Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and children may be blessed."

A week in the life of Sister and Elder Hinton
Monday - We go walking 3-4 miles at least 3 times a week, and we study the scriptures, or lessons everyday. We volunteer at Canyon Lake Elem. School - We work with students in 5th,4th, 2nd, and 1st grade. We get hugs and appreciation from the teachers. After lunch we go into the mission office and work on referral lists that the missionaries send out. We send them to Stake/Branch Presidencies. We also handle missionary/member housing. We begin preparing for Institute lessons.
Tuesday - We have district meeting. We enjoy associating with the younger missionaries. We finish preparing for our Institute class that night. We are so excited that Mark, one of our students, has a girlfriend. We have more boys in our class than girls. We love them, and they love us.
Wednesday - We went to Hot Springs for a early morning seminary class. We have to get up at 5:00am, to get there by 6:30. We learn about Paul in the New Testament and what a strong converted Christian he was. A great missionary. We go to breakfast, then drive back home through Custer State Park, and enjoy the antelope, prarie dogs, deer, buffalo, and burros that stick their heads through our car window and want a kiss. We laughed so hard. When we get back to the apartment, we finish preparing for our Institute Lesson at the School of Mines, and then go teach it. These students are strong in the gospel, and we love hearing their testimonies.
Thursday - We go to the Elementary School again. We attend a Home Study Seminary class in the afternoon in Spearfish. It is about an hour away. We again learn about Paul and what a great missionary he was. He would put the Lord and his work first in his life. We have great teachers and students. We go out to dinner and then hurry back for free tutoring at the public library.
Friday - We had a fireside at the church that we were in charge of for our Seminary Teachers and Priesthood Leaders. It was potluck, so Elder Hinton made some chili. It turned out to be a great success.
Saturday - We went to Chadron, NE, to Diana's baptism. She is from Costa Rica, and is going to Chadron State College. We had the opportunity to meet her with the missionaries, so she asked me to speak at her baptism. The spirit was so strong, and she was so excited. Then we went to Alliance, NE to another baptism of a part member family. What a neat day it was, to see how the gospel changes lives for the better. We stayed over night in Chadron.
Sunday - We went to church in Gordon, NE, where we have a homestudy teacher. He teaches his own children, is in the branch presidency, blesses the sacrament, teaches Primary, sometimes Priesthood, counts the tithing, etc. etc. We were touched by their humble spirit to serve the Lord in whatever they are asked to do. Then we hurried home to Rapid City, about a 3 hour drive, to James Fracke's baptism. He is 20 years old. We had the opportunity to get to know him, because he came to our Institute class. He is a Native American, and has had a very rough life. He has been abused and bounced around in and out of Foster Homes. He now glows because he has found his purpose in life - the gospel. His grandma was his example. She is a member of the church. She cried at his baptism where he honored her. Can you see why we love our mission? We feel the Lord's spirit everyday. We love serving Him, and being apart of this glorious work. Love you all

Be of Good Cheer
Behold, this is the promise of the Lord unto you, O ye my servants, Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.
